Captain’s Practices

Team Captain’s hold Captain’s Practices beginning in January through the beginning of the season (end of March).

2024 Captain’s Practice Information:

Where: Bloomington South Lifetime: 1001 W. 98th Street.

Day: Every Sunday (except Superbowl Sunday) through March 24, 2024

Time: 8:00-9:00 p.m.

No membership is required. If players are not members, a waiver signed by an adult family member is required to enter the building.

During the Season

The Boys Tennis Season typically runs the week before Spring Break through mid-May, early June.

Practices are held at Linden Hills Park (Varsity) and Pershing Park (JV).

Matches are scheduled prior to the season starting and typically are held directly after school ~ with a 4:00 start time.

Matches may also be scheduled during the weekend.

Matches consist of four 4 singles matches, 3 doubles matches, and often include a few exhibition matches.

Match and Practice dates are shown within the Schedule in TeamSnap.

Team Communication

The SWHS Boys Tennis team uses TeamSnap for all communication and scheduling. Contact information is required in order to be added to the TeamSnap group. Email lakersboystennis@gmail.com if you need assistance joining.

Nutrition

The Boosters lead the effort for Match Day Snacks and ask families to help out with providing a snack during the season.

Early Release

Players are not given an early release for practice. On Match Days, players are given an early release in order to have enough time to warm-up before the match. The coaches give a list to the SWHS Athletic Director who are excused for the early release. No note is necessary, however, players should communicate with their teachers about their absence.

Uniforms and Tennis Spirit Wear

Each player is issued a jersey and shorts at the start of the season and are expected to wear their uniform at all matches. Shorts are returned at the end of the season, players keep their jerseys.
